Owner says US sanctions against IFD Kapital bureaucratic mistake
MOSCOW, Jun 21 (PRIME) -- The inclusion of Russian financial holding IFD Kapital Group on the U.S. sanctions list is a bureaucratic mistake, and the company expects no asset freezes, co-owner Leonid Fedun told reporters on Wednesday.
“Nothing will be frozen. I think it was purely a bureaucratic mistake that we will correct today,” he said.
On Tuesday, the U.S. expanded its sanction list over the situation in Ukraine by adding 38 positions, including IFD Kapital and a four-star hotel Riviera Sunrise Resort & Spa in the Crimean city of Alushta allegedly owned by the company, as well as Olga Plaksina, a member of the company’s management board.
IFD Kapital said it plans to file an appeal to the U.S. Treasury Department against its decision to include the company in the sanction list as it thought it had done no illegal actions in any jurisdiction where they operate. The company and Olga Plaksina personally carried out no activity and had never owned any assets on the territory of Crimea, the company said.
